Trans and LGBQ+ Autonomy and Equality: A Syllabus from the History Department of the
University of North Texas
This "course" presents a curriculum on the history of variation in gender and sexuality.
It starts with free, accessible materials about trans-related expression, hostility
to gender variation, and trans activism anchored in broader U.S. LGBTQ+ history. Then
the syllabus points out some of the best historical works in LGBTQ+ history for the
U.S. and the world as a living syllabus, which faculty can update with their favorites.
