Major Professor: Christopher J. Fuhrmann

Specialty Areas: Ancient History, Roman History

I earned my B.A. in History from UNT in 2014. My research interests, broadly defined, include the political, social, and cultural histories of the ancient Mediterranean world with an emphasis on the Romans. Topically, they include spectacle and entertainment, public order and social control, ancient slavery, and ancient urbanization. My Master's thesis examines volunteerism among gladiators in the Roman arena and their role in the sociopolitical disruption of Rome's transformation from republic into empire.
