Julia Wetzel

Email: JuliaWetzel@my.unt.edu

Preferred pronouns: She/Her

Dissertation/thesis title: "The Making of a Princeps: Imperial Virtues in Monumental Propaganda"

Major Professor: Dr. Christopher Fuhrmann

Specialty Areas: I specialize in the presentation of imperial virtues and cosmology in monumental propaganda and architecture in the Classical world as well as architectural history from the Greeks to the end of the Medieval era.

I am a first year PhD candidate here at UNT and I specialize in Ancient and Architectural History. My academic journey started back home in Illinois where I received my BA at Rockford University and then moving to Texas in 2016, where I began and received my MA here at UNT. My academic journey has taken me to Rome for research and Romania for an archaeological dig in between and during degrees. I am also a teaching assistant for the department where I have worked with upper and lower levels of history. As a student I truly enjoy learning and academic curiosity and do my best to encourage the same curiosity in others. I am currently mastering Latin and learning Greek to support my research interests. I sit on the Phi Alpha Theta and the UNT Eagle History Society committees as well.
